The Tucson Police Department has received information that Tucson homicide suspects Blane Barksdale, 56, and Susan Barksdale, 59, have escaped custody while being extradited from Henrietta, New York to Pima County, Arizona.

During transport on the evening of August 26, Blane and Susan Barksdale overpowered two security officers in Blanding, UT.

Blane and Susan Barksdale are wanted in connection with the murder of Frank Bligh, 72, on April 16 in Tucson, AZ. The two were taken into custody by U.S. Marshals and the Monroe County SWAT team in Henrietta in May.

Blane has numerous tattoos on his arms and hands. The Barksdales’ direction of travel is currently unknown. Investigators have information that they are possibly traveling through Arizona.

"Escapes like this, from custody are very rare but they do occur," said U.S. Marshal Charles Salina. "They were facing very serious charges and now you put escape charges on top of that and it makes these two fugitives that much more dangerous."

The couple was last seen driving a red GMC Sierra pickup truck (license plate AZ: 127XTY) with damage to the front passenger side and rear bumper. They are believed to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

The FBI, US Marshals and Apache County Sheriff’s Office are assisting in the investigation. If the Barksdales are spotted, please call 911 immediately. Anyone with possible information on their whereabouts is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
