Shocked and dazed— that's how a former firefighter who rushed to the scene of the explosion on Illinois Street describes the first responders and RG&E employees he saw. 

Video taken by Gregg Starks shows the immediate aftermath of the explosion that leveled a house and rocked the neighborhood.

Starks was walking his dog when he heard the explosion. He says based on the sound and smoke, he knew it was a gas explosion.

"The potential for firefighters, police, any first responders getting injured— and I used to be an emt—- I immediately put away the dog, hopped in the truck, and raced up to see if there would be anyway for me to provide assistance to any injured or trapped firefighters or whatever," Starks said.
