An Ithaca based company is offering a bird’s eye view of the Finger Lakes.

Finger Lakes HeliTours shows guests up to two hours of flight time exploring gorges, lakes, and wineries. It's owned by Andrew Garcia and his wife Shelby.

"The Finger Lakes are just so beautiful and a lot of people don’t really know what Central New York has to offer," Garcia said. "This is a vantage point where it immediately clicks. They see it from above. They see the gorges, the waterfalls, the valleys. It’s amazing.”

The Ithaca college graduates officially started flying this month. Garcia serves as the Chief Pilot.

“We have something to share now. I think also as we are talking about some of those niche audiences that we are trying to attract," Chamber VP of Tourism Peggy Coleman said.

Flight packages range in price and time. Your trip could go from 5 minutes to more than an hour.

“You’re really not thinking about the time. Just like on a roller coaster that is only one or two minutes long it sort of felt like forever," Garcia said. "This is one of those experiences that feels like it could have taken all day.”

The flight, carrying up to three people, depart and land at Ithaca-Tompkins Regional.

“We can accommodate large groups, small groups. I’ve been talking to local organizations that want to do team events and things like that for groups of 20 or more," he added.

Garcia is trained as a U.S. Air Force search and rescue pilot, Airport Director Mike Hall says nervous flier shouldn't be worried.

“People who fly with him will be flying in the hands of somebody who is really professionally trained and very capable," Hall said. "So we are very excited that he would do this.”
