Family and friends returned to the scene of a fatal crash in Elba on Sunday to remember mother and son, Teresa and Thomas Norton.

The duo was driving on Oak Orchard Road when they collided head-on with a pickup truck. Investigators say they believe slippery road conditions caused the crash.

Dozens of people lit candles and held hands at the scene, creating a half circle. Teresa was 53 years old and Thomas was 22.

Teresa's daughter says she will never take a moment with family for granted.

"Always make sure you tell your mom and your siblings how much you love them every day," said Kimberly Albanese. "I will never get that chance to call my mom to tell her to ask her how do I do it mom? How am I going to raise my 2-year-old without you? How am I going to raise my baby without you? But those are the questions that you just have to think what would they do? And just keep on going, day by day, and be strong. Take a deep breath and just try to do the best that you can."
