Three of the largest solar farms that New York State has just approved will go online south of Rochester, including a 170-megawatt project that'll roll for miles outside Mt. Morris.

NYSERDA approved Morris Ridge Solar. It'll mean 350 jobs for the area during construction. One-hundred will work there when it opens in 2022. Six farmers sold some of their land to EDF Renewables to host it between Letchworth State Park and Sonyea State Forrest.

It's a boon to Mt. Morris and Livingston County. The town, county and Mt. Morris School District all will receive revenue from the company that'll own it, EDF Renewables.

"Everything they've asked us to do, we've asked them to do, they've done," Mt. Morris Town Supervisor Charles DiPasquale said. "We've had a good working relationship since day one. It's just unbelievable. We want this."

Mt. Morris will host open houses on the project early next month.

Bergen will be home to New York's largest: a 2,000-acre solar project. Caledonia will also host a mega solar farm, part of the Cuomo administration's $1.5 billion commitment to the growth of the solar energy industry in New York.
