Last week, ROC Achieve Charter School announced it would not seek to renew its charter after just one contract period. The Board of Trustees says the school did not meet their expectations since opening in 2014.

A meeting was held Wednesday night to answer questions and to help families begin the process of selecting a new school.

"We already do the work with our eighth graders, who are going on to high school, so now that just expands to fifth, sixth and seventh graders," said Karen Podsiadly, chair of the school's board. "We're going to help them identify schools that work for them."

The decision to close the school was met with both anger and disappointment from parents. Podsiadly says the school will help students right until their final day. They also plan to host additional meetings to help families transition.

The Charter School application is universal, with a deadline of April 1. District schools have rolling deadlines.
