Six years ago, New York state passed the Safe Act, enforcing some of the toughest guns law in the nation.

Now Governor Cuomo wants to continue tightening restrictions on guns, by proposing the Red Flag Bill.

The bill would allow police officers, family members, or school officials to flag individuals deemed to be a threat to themselves and others. That person could then be prevented from purchasing or possessing firearms through court intervention.

"New York led the way, let New York lead the way again,” Cuomo said.

In addition, Governor Cuomo is also pushing for a ban on bump stocks and extending the background check waiting period from three to 10 days.
