In a matter of hours, a Monroe County jury convicted a Rochester man of strangling and stabbing his 101-year-old neighbor Marcia Morrison on Tuesday.

Gregory Jesmer was found guilty of second-degree murder.

The attack took place in the victim's apartment on Green Knolls Drive in Rochester.

Jesmer was taken into custody after he was questioned for approaching a 13-year old girl who also lived in the same apartment complex. Police say he tried to lure the girl into his apartment.

Jesmer was later arrested for Morrison's death.

According to prosecutors, the two knew each other and Morrison often helped Jesmer with cash. Jesmer was accused of attacking the elderly woman after asking for assistance again.

Corinne Heschke says her great aunt Marcia lived life to the fullest, and went on to say the man responsible for Marcia’s death deserves a life sentence.

”I felt pity for him because he is a vet and probably had a lot of stress in his life but that certainly didn’t give him any excuses and he did need to pay for his sins,” said Heschke of Le Roy.
