A Williamson man and woman are facing multiple charges following a police standoff in Williamson.

According to Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home on Route 104, just east of Townline Road, around 2 a.m. for the report of a man assaulting his girlfriend.

Deputies say after the altercation, 34-year-old Shannon Jones barricaded himself inside the home with the  woman and five children.

At one point, he let the children out of the home and nearly 12 hours later, the couple came out and were taken into custody.

Jones had two warrants for his arrest prior to the incident for criminal contempt and aggravated family offense, according to Sheriff Barry Virts. He has since been additionally charged with harassment and criminal trespass.

Stephanie Arenas, 28, who had an order of protection against Jones, was charged with hindering prosecution and endangering the welfare of a child.

Route 104 was shut down for several hours but has since reopened.
