Officials at St. John Fisher College have suspended cheerleading activities indefinitely as they investigate a video posted on social media that shows members of the team using discriminatory language.

Sources say the cheerleading team got together off-campus after practice for a gift exchange when two team members were dancing and singing lyrics to a number of songs, including the song caught on camera, "Dreams and Nightmares" by Meek Mill. That song contains the “n-word,” and two students are seen and heard in the video singing along.

Members of the team were told not to speak to the media until the investigation is complete.

The college sent out a letter to all students, saying it immediately launched an investigation after learning about the video, adding:

"(W)e will not support acts or behaviors that are not consistent with the values espoused in our mission statement and in the Fisher Creed."

Sources say at least one of the students who can be heard in the video — a freshman from Rochester — is expected to speak to the dean of the college.
