Family and friends are mourning the loss of a loved one in Gates.

Joshua Santos, 28, was hit by two vehicles and killed Tuesday night while crossing against the traffic signal on Buffalo Road.

His eldest brother, William says Joshua was the kind of guy that would do anything for anyone.

“My whole life is crumbling right now, because I can’t process my little brother is gone,” said William.

“If you needed it, he’d give it to you," he continued. "The shirt off his back, his last bit of food, the money in his pocket- whatever you needed he was there for you.”

Joshua  worked as a service desk associate at the Tops Friendly Markets location in Gates since 2009, according to company officials.

William says he was truly touched by everyone that came to pay their respects.

“It just amazes me how much love he’s gotten so far, how many people love him and miss him.” Santos said.

But that does little to quell the pain.

“I can’t text him. I can’t call him. I can’t see him," Santos said. "He’s gone, and that hurts.”

Patrick McCall, the first driver to strike Joshua, was ticketed for not having a license and driving an unregistered vehicle.
