A Parma woman who died after she was hit on the shoulder of Route 104 by a vehicle driven by an on-duty Greece Police Department detective was identified by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office as Lillian Weyanna.

The detective, who was driving an unmarked patrol vehicle, is now on paid administrative leave as is standard in any such case. Department officials confirmed the detective has worked there for eight years and has been in law enforcement for more than 17.

The crash took place around 9 p.m. Saturday near Trimmer Road, where deputies said Weyanna, 52, was walking. Deputies say the detective tried to save her life, performing CPR, but Weyanna died at the scene.

Deputies said that Weyanna is originally from a rural community in Alaska, where her remains will be taken to.

Officials from the sheriff's office say the detective may have been trailing a suspicious vehicle at the time of the crash.
