Members of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church are speaking out about a same-sex ban directive handed down by the head of the Albany diocese.

Bishop William Love wrote in an a letter to his diocese that same-sex marriage is "in conflict and contradiction to God’s intent for the sacrament of marriage."

For some parishioners at St. Andrew's church, this school of thought is not one consistent with their faith. That goes especially for Nadya Lawson, who is a member of the church.

"I know lots of people who love the church and love each other and want the church family to celebrate that, and they can't. We aren't interested in forcing the way we think on other people, but the priest has to be minister to their congregation in a way they see fit," she said.

The directive goes into effect December 2.
