ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The victim of a fatal car accident in Monticello Monday afternoon has been identified as 5-year-old Charkeilys Viera.

The Viera family had recently moved to Rochester from the Bronx, but Charkeilys and her siblings had spent the summer with a grandmother in New York City.

On September 3, Carmelo Viera was driving his children back to Rochester when their vehicle crossed the center lane, hitting another head-on. Charkeilys was ejected from the vehicle and later died at a nearby hospital.

Charkeilys' family is remembering the 5-year-old as a happy, outgoing girl.

"She was always happy, she liked to do anything we were doing. She liked to go to the park, jump. She lived very happy," said Charkeilys' aunt Gladys Viera.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the family to help cover funeral expenses for Charkeily and medical bills for her father and 14-year-old sister.
