An Orleans County teenager has been charged with attempted murder after deputies say he broke into his grandmother's house and stabbed her.

Brandon Foster, 17, of Albion has been charged with attempted murder, burglary and assault.

According to deputies, late Sunday night Foster forced open a rear window at the home of his grandmother, Rachael Spearance.

Investigators say Foster attacked his grandmother as she slept in her bed, stabbing her and trying to choke her.

Spearance awoke and fought back before getting away.

Deputies did not speak about a motive, but they say Foster then took his grandmother's cell phone and cash before running away.

Spearance was able to drive herself to Medina Hospital before being airlifted to ECMC in Buffalo.

She was later released.

Sheriff's deputies and K-9 units found Foster in the bushes behind a Burger King early Monday morning.

He will be in Town of Albion Court on Wednesday and is being held on $50,000 cash bail.
