What does the future hold for Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo?

A statement released by the executive Friday afternoon hinted that she's open to representing the people of Monroe County in ways beyond her current role.

It was previously announced that Dinolfo was working with the campaign of Republican gubernatorial candidate Marc Molinaro.

She's on a committee with the campaign intended to identify and screen out potential lieutenant governor candidates to run with the Dutchess County executive.

Dinolfo took a shot at Albany in her statement:

"I am fully committed to serving as County Executive and I will continue to be relentless in pursuing a brighter future for our community, especially by growing jobs, holding taxes down, and building stronger families here.

However, so much of our day-to-day work at the County level is hurt by what goes on in Albany. Whatever the future may hold, I promise you this - I will never pass up an opportunity to best serve our residents and families here at home in the County of Monroe."

During the 56th annual Monroe County Conservative Party Dinner Friday night Molinaro praised Dinolfo, saying, "Cheryl Dinolfo has been a tremendous leader in this community, she’s been a very good friends and she’s actually helping to lead our Lieutenant governor search.”

At the event, Dinolfo did not confirm or deny whether or not she would run, but said that whichever candidate is chosen will be qualified.

“I know that we are going to have the most qualified candidate that will accompany Marc when he wins as governor in November,” said Dinolfo.

The state's Republican Party convention is less than two weeks away in New York City.

The NY gubernatorial election takes place November 6th.
