ROCHESTER N.Y. -- It’s been less than two months since New York Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb announced that he would seek the Republican gubernatorial nomination.

Following his decision to withdraw from the race on Friday, many questioned the motive behind the abrupt decision, so he took it to twitter to defend his reputation addressing sexual harassment allegations

He says his reason for dropping out of the race is to spend more time with family and there's no other story or charge coming.

“I called it BS and I’ll continue to call it BS and people think that there’s some kind of scandal brewing and that was the real reason I got out but that’s just not so and that’s not true, period,” said Assemblyman Kolb. “I’m going to still continue speaking out, speaking up and voting no where necessary as the representative for the 131st assembly district and also the leader of our conference which encompasses the entire state.”

First elected to represent New York's 129th Assembly District in 2000, his early withdrawal leaves Republican’s state Sen. John DeFrancisco of the Syracuse area and former Erie County Executive Joel Giambra head to head in the race for Governor.

Kolb adds that he will continue to represent the state in the Assembly.
