ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Cases of the flu continue to rise in Monroe County, and one person has died as a result of the virus.

The death was noted in a flu report published by the University of Rochester Medical Center's Center for Community Health and Prevention.

It says one adult between the ages of 50 to 64 died at some point between October first through December 30th.

During that time period, a total of 607 cases of the flu were confirmed by lab tests, and 175 of those required hospitalization.

The majority of the confirmed cases of the flu were between the ages of 18 and 49.
