ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A man who confessed to a 2001 homicide last year has been found not guilty of the crime.
Angel Carrasquillo confessed to shooting and killing Miguel Cruz on July 4, 2001 on Hollister Street in Rochester.
Jose Torres was initially charged with the murder. That conviction was overturned after Carasquillo's confession.
The District Attorney's Office then pursued a new theory that the men acted together and a jury found Torres guilty for a second time. The District Attorney's Office also indicted Carasquillo for the homicide.
On Monday, a jury determined that Carrasquillo is innocent.
