MACEDON, N.Y. -- Police investigators say the support beam holding a barbecue smoker to the back of an RV broke causing a fatal crash Saturday in Macedon.

Police say it is unknown if there will be any charges pending as the investigation continues into the fatal accident.

Witnesses told police they saw the smoker start to sway back and forth before it broke off the back of a motor home on Route 31 Saturday evening. The smoker fell into the oncoming lane of traffic when it was hit by a car driven by Jared Jones of Palmyra.

Police say Jones was knocked unconscious and was airlifted to the hospital with head injuries. Strong Hospital says Jones has since been released.

Police say the passenger, Seth Krebbecks, 19, of Macedon, was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither person in the motor home was injured.

The Pal Mac School district says Krebbeks graduated from High school there last year. Grief counselors will be available this week at the high school.
