ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A new facility hopes to make Rochester a greener city. Roc Recycling Company opens its doors this upcoming week.

Located on Smith Street just west of the Genesee River, Roc Recycling is the city's first recycling center. The facility offers bottle and can redemption services, as well as paper-product recycling and electronic waste drop off. Owner Eli Fischer says his goal is to make Rochester a leading city in the green initiative.

"It's what you give back to this world that makes you who you are, and if I can make a dollar at it too, that's a bonus. More importantly, Rochester, which is the seventh cleanest city in the United States -- I'm trying to make it number one," said Fischer.

Roc Recycling will be open for drop-offs starting Monday.
