ROCHESTER, N.Y. — It's Bike Week in the city of Rochester.

There has been a growing use of bike lanes on city streets, and organizers say the pandemic has led to even more bicycle use.

Reconnect Rochester organized Bike Week and had a pit stop Monday on Elmwood Avenue to celebrate those who ride to work.

Some bicyclists said riding to work is a good way to start the day.

"Just being able to be more connected to the people and places around me and being able to be more observant of what is going on and not be frustrated when I get to work," said Tracey Austin of Rochester. "Because I had to sit in traffic before I go and sit at my desk."

There will be different themes each day of Bike Week.

Organizers will also be offering cycling events appropriate for all ages and levels of experience.
