GATES, N.Y. — Hope Hall School in Gates can help you dig right into spring with its first-ever Planting HOPE Project.

With help from local businesses and Hope Hall sponsors, the planting kits for sale are filled with a variety of seeds, garden gloves, garden tools, a raffle ticket and even a student-designed greeting card. It’s a creative fundraiser inspired by Hope Hall’s annual “I Can’t” ceremony for students to say goodbye to anything they think they can’t do and instead embrace everything they can do. Funds raised from the planting kit sale will go directly to student educational and social emotional programs at Hope Hall.

“We really try and work on character building messages with our kids and our community on a regular basis," said Samantha Standing from Hope Hall School. "Hope is obviously one of the biggest things for us and now, more than ever, I think we all need a little bit of that. We have to raise about two-thirds of our funding every year from fundraising and so our events are a very important piece of that. We wanted to get creative to offset some of the losses that we’ve had and do it in a safe way.”

The planting kits are $50 and can be ordered online at hopehall.org. You’ll get a raffle ticket with each kit or you can buy raffle tickets for $10 each. There are three raffle prizes available; a tree, a spring cleanup or two Adirondack chairs made at Hope Hall.

Hope Hall is a private, not-for-profit school designed for students with special learning needs.
