ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Christmas came early this year for members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester.

Santa made a visit Saturday, handing out gifts to more than 300 club members and their parents.

Those gifts were made possible by donations.

The clubs' annual Christmas celebration was held outside this year due to the pandemic.

Organizers say they're thankful for the community for coming together to make sure kids can still celebrate Christmas this year.

"For us, especially this year of a pandemic, we want people, especially our kids to still have the Christmas spirit. We got a tremendous amount of donations from all around Rochester, Monroe County. Even some that were out of state. Everybody in Rochester is always giving and we're thankful they're giving to kids, especially kids from the inner-city community," said executive director Dwayne Mahoney.

Organizers estimated that they gave out about 400 gifts this year.
