Instead of eating turkey this Thanksgiving, some opted for vegan meals instead. A local restaurant was giving out free meals to help out.

Allah's Kitchen opened up to give the meals to anyone interested. The menu included coconut rice, curry seitan, and vegan mac n' cheese.

Restaurant staff said they wanted to give food to those in need during the holidays.

"This is something we've done every year," said Chef Marsha Jenkins. "Even before we opened up the restaurant, we'd give out free food to the people. There's so many people that are in need, this year especially. So, when we first opened our restaurant, which was last year, we did the same thing. This year, we're doing it again, on a grander scale."
