ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A local church is doing its part in giving back to the community.

The Light of the World Church Assembly of God distributed about 1,000 40 lb. food boxes to people in need and church members for the second Saturday in a row.

The Farmers to Families Food Box program provided the food boxes

The pastor said the event started at 10 a.m., but dozens of cars were already lined up at 8 a.m.

"In a time where we are seeing a lot of division, we see division in the nation," said Rev. Ruben Serrano. "Division, sometimes in the family, and this is not a time to be divided. It is a time to be together as a church as a family, as a nation and this is what we are seeing now. This is for all colors…Black, White, Hispanic, people from all over the world. They are coming from different nations and they are coming here. We are serving everybody."

There will be another food box distribution next Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
