Since 1988, thousands traveled to Seneca Falls for Empire Farm Days but come August, the annual event will be held at Palladino Farms and Heritage Hill Brewhouse in Pompey.

It was one of the best surprises for owner Dan Palladino.

"I didn't plan for it,” said Palladino. “For me, the fact that everything we had done fit perfectly into the ultimate dream. It's great."

Lee Newspapers bought Empire Farm Days in January. The event was canceled this year because of COVID-19.

But, the paper's General Manager Bruce Button says they used the time to re-evaluate the location.

"You need to be somewhere in Central New York, and to be out of Syracuse has a lot to offer — more amenities, restaurants [and] hotels,” said Button.

Button also says the indoor space will play a huge role.

"Summer farm shows either will be hot and dry or hot and wet, if you want to get out of the weather and talk to a customer, you can walk them up here,” said Button.

Officials expect the event to bring in more than 25,000 people and at least $2.5 million in revenue next year. Palladino used to be one of those visitors. Now, he's excited to welcome everyone to his own backyard.

"The opportunity, it could be overwhelming,” said Palladino. “But putting in a good plan, there's good people around us, the brew house, the farm, we're all in a good place right now.”

Empire Farm Days will be held August 3-5, 2021. It will remain there through at least 2029.
