There was a call this Saturday in Rochester for job recruiters to help hire more people of color.

That was just one message as members from the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists hosted speakers from both the labor movement and the community along North Union Street.

Organizers were also calling for people to vote in this year's general election.

The CBTU says Black people need representation when labor decisions are made

"When you talk about labor, are there Black people in labor? Yes. Do Black people benefit from labor? Yes. Do Black people need the fruits of labor? Yes. In that instance, where Black people are stakeholders in labor, I think that you need to have a seat at the table when they're making decisions that are gonna affect Black people," said Marcus Dunn of Rochester.

This event also served as a way to collect gift cards. They will be given as a "thank you" to healthcare workers.
