A do-over for Mary Cariola Center students, as students who graduated in June are now getting their diplomas, after they couldn't have an official graduation because of the pandemic.
The "drive-up, drive-thru" graduation allowed graduates and their families to stop at specific locations around the building to get their graduation items, ending with a trip to the main entrance where they got their diplomas.
"In June, when we would traditionally hold graduation at Mary Cariola, that was impossible. It was impossible to bring groups of people together, but some of our students have 15 or more years, they needed a sense of closing. We as staff needed a sense of closing," said Mary Cariola Center Superintendent Dr. Christine Sheffer.
Each student even had their name read aloud by a socially distanced principal.
