The Rochester Public Market opened its Nutrition Education Center Thursday moring.

The new education center will be home to community nutrition and culinary programs with the help of FoodLink's nutrition educators, and Wegmans with supplies.

Other organizations are already stepping up to help teach the young people of Rochester healthy eating habits.

"We've got a lot of interest from community groups, eager to share their culinary programming, and nutrition education with Rochester's young people," said Daniele Lyman-Torres, Rochester Department of Recreation and Youth Services commissioner. "And that's really excited me, so the best way to promote healthy living is to get kids on board right from the start.

The space will also be home to the taste of the market cooking series put on by friends of the market that will feature guest chefs and other programs two Saturdays of each month.
