Former Amerks and Sabres forward Clarke MacArthur has retired from hockey and is transitioning to golf.

The 33-year old is in the field for the RDGA Championships at Monroe after retiring from the Ottawa Senators due to concussion issues.

A member at Oak Hill since 2011, MacArthur and his family live in Pittsford.

"It takes up time. That's kind of the most important thing when you're career ends like it did. I thought I had three or four more years to play and it didn't work out that way. As far as filling my days, golf was a good thing for me to get away and do," says MacArthur.

He shot an opening round 79 at Monroe.
