UPDATE: Geneva BOE: Accusations against former superintendent unfounded
GENEVA, N.Y. — The Geneva City School District says its superintendent has been place on temporary leave.
According to a news release sent out by the district on Tuesday, the decision regarding Superintendent Patricia Garcia was made following a complaint received by the city's board of education. The complaint contains allegations related to Garcia's management of personnel, the district says.
Kathleen Davis has been appointed as acting superintendent by the board until the investigation is concluded. The board has also appointed an outside investigator to look into the complaint.
The Geneva CSD says placing Garcia on leave was necessary to protect the integrity of the investigation, something it says Garcia agreed to.
“We are confident that engaging an outside investigator is the best course of action to respect and protect the rights of all involved,” said Board of Education President Stephanie Annear. Dr. Davis comes to us highly recommended, with experience as a superintendent and interim superintendent. We believe the district will be in good hands under her guidance.”
Davis will join the district on Wednesday, September 29.
