ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Monday marks day one for students in the Rochester City School District.

However, they won't be headed to the classroom. Instead, they'll be learning remotely.

Superintendent Lesli Myers-Small took to Twitter on Monday morning to welcome all students and staff back during these unprecedented times.

"I recognize that we're starting in a new way, but we're going to move together forward, together now. Have a wonderful day, congratulations everyone," she said.

Dr. Myers-Small says teachers want to prevent students from getting "screen fatigue," so they are trying to keep a good balance of on-screen and off-screen time.

School days are split between hours of being with the teacher, interacting and working together on Zoom, and then hours of completing work on their own time.

Students can still pick up breakfast and lunches between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at designated schools.

Parents will be able to drop off their kids off at Rochester R-Centers so they can still get the help and supervision they need during their virtual classes.
