The Fairport Central School district plans to merge two of its buildings.

District officials say dropping enrollment numbers led to the unanimous vote to merge Minerva DeLand 9th Grade School with Fairport High School.

Officials say enrollment is down 14 percent over the past 12 years.

The district is also looking at renovating Fairport High School.

That will be the first of two capital project votes likely for December of this year.

The consolidation isn't expected to happen for another five to seven years.
