Police are investigating a fatal shooting on Wabash Street near the corner of North Goodman Street in Rochester.

According to a statement by Captain Frank Umbrino, Central Investigations Sections, on Tuesday, police confirm that a man in his 30s was shot at least once in his upper body outside at around 1:30 p.m. He died at the scene.

"We lock up the bad guys. You read every night that we make two, three, four gun arrests a night, and these people are being let out the next day and committing crimes again," said Umbrino. "So, I'll turn that question back on the community. What are you going to do? Number one: arrest the bad guys, and number two: keep the bad guys in jail."

The victim was confirmed on Wednesday as Alondo Lathrop Jr, 35, of Rochester by the Rochester Police Department.

No suspects are in custody, and anyone with information is asked to call 911.
