A woman accused of killing her partner outside their Gates apartment this past Labor Day was acquitted by a jury on charges of manslaughter.

Doris Carrasquillo was this week found not guilty in the deadly stabbing of Kashmire Redd.

Redd, 28, was found by police lying outside the couple's Coccia Crescent apartment on Sept. 4, 2017, following an argument.

Carrasquillo was initially charged with murder, but later indicted on a lesser charge of manslaughter.

The law firm representing her released a statement with this quote:

"The jury found that Ms. Carrasquillo acted in self-defense and therefore her actions were justified under our law. The loss of a life is always a tragedy, but we are happy that the truth about what happened on September 4th was finally made public."
