EAST ROCHESTER, N.Y. — In Seneca County, the supervisor-elect for the town of Waterloo now faces charges after deputies say he left the scene of an accident last Friday.

The Seneca County Sheriff's office says 33-year-old Don Trout hit a telephone pole on River Road, causing it to fall over and block the road. Witnesses told deputies Trout ran into the woods after the accident.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, even a K9 unit, were called in to search for Trout, but were unsuccessful. Family members later located him. He was checked out at the hospital.

Trout was issued several traffic tickets including leaving the scene of a property damage accident. When reached by phone, he did not want to comment on the charges.

He's due in Fayette Town Court at the end of February.

He says he’s already been sworn in as town supervisor.
