PENN YAN, N.Y. — A Yates County bar owner is now facing a long list of charges related to a pair of alleged Christmas Eve sexual assaults inside his Penn Yan tavern.

The owner of Lloyd's Limited on East Main Street, 61-year-old Bob Champlin, is charged with one count of both criminal sexual act and attempted rape.

Champlin also faces two counts each of sexual abuse, sexual misconduct and forcible touching, along with one count of unlawfully dealing with a child.

"The most severe count is Criminal Sexual Act in the first degree, that is a B violent felony," said Yates County District Attorney Valerie Gardner. "It involves oral/sexual contact when a person is unable to consent because they are physically helpless, and that can carry a sentencing anywhere from 5-25 years."

The charges stem from a video posted on social media depicting sexual assault at the pub on Christmas Eve into the early morning hours of Christmas Day.

Police believe the woman who shot the video was later assaulted as well.

"The second female who video taped the incident to begin with, was seen passed out on the floor behind the bar," said Penn Yan Police Chief Thomas Dunham. "Mr. Champlin was touching her underneath her clothes as well. That is covered in these charges that were presented today."

At his arraignment Thursday, he pleaded not guilty and is being held in the Yates County jail on $50,000 bail.

Champlin is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on January 2.
