ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Monroe County Public Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza received his COVID-19 vaccination on Wednesday.

On top of his duties as public health commissioner for the county, Mendoza is also a physician at Highland Hospital.

"And I want people to ask their questions. I want people to feel there is no question they can't ask. So many people have reluctance and skepticism and uncertainty about this and our job as a community is to allay those concerns, to answer those questions, to help people feel less confused so they'll feel comfortable getting the shot eventually," Mendoza said.

He was not the only one.

Dozens of other Highland doctors and nurses also received their first vaccination.
