ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester’s LGBTQ+ community is preparing for weeks of celebrating Pride.
Despite June being Pride Month, the two biggest events for the community come next month on July 16 for the Pride Parade on Park Avenue and the ROC Pride Festival at Cobb's Hill.
In the weeks leading up to those events, there are still plenty of chances to get out and celebrate.
Some of those include comedy shows, a Pride event at the Seneca Park Zoo, and a Pride expo at the Dick's House of Sport at Eastview Mall.
"We expect that a lot of people are going to come out because we haven’t had a Pride parade or festival in two years, so it’s an exciting time,’ said Susanna Speed, senior director of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Trillium Health. “And I think that there’s going to be a lot of energy so maybe that might be a difference, not that there’s usually not energy in Pride. But we're just really excited to get the community back together."
