PERINTON, N.Y. — Lollypop Farm is full. So many pets have been surrendered that representatives at the shelter say they are at overflow capacity and cannot take any more.

Lollypop is now prioritizing pets and families facing emergencies and urgent situations. It is also urging people to contact the shelter and fill out an admissions consultation request form online instead of bringing an animal directly into the shelter by walk-in appointment.

Another Rochester pet shelter, the Verona Street Animal Society, is also dealing with high capacity, but it has not yet reached its limit.

There are a number of ways to help the shelters, including adoption, becoming a foster volunteer and donating to help provide supplies to animals already in their care.
