ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The red curtains are opening back up in Rochester.

The Rochester Broadway Theater League has announced their upcoming Broadway season lineup at the auditorium theatre for the fall. The last time there was a live performance on stage was more than a year ago.

The upcoming season features new shows and some of those postponed shows from the 2020 season.

Theater officials say despite the uncertainty, more than 6,000 people had already renewed their season tickets.

"It’s for those of us who have been here and really love this as our career paths throughout our lives,” said executive vice president Linda Glosser. “It’s been a real tough year missing live entertainment. It is something we were never faced with before. The thought of having actual peopl sit here together and enjoy something that real people are doing on stage its exciting."

"What it means to the community at an economic level; the economic impact the restaurants will be busy, the hotels will be busy our streets will be busy,” said RBTL partner Albert Nocciolino. “And the excitement of brining the arts back to our community and what it means at every single one of those levels I think is what we are excited about."

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is the first show back on the stage in November. "Means Girls," "My Fair Lady," and "Hamilton" are also expected in the 2021-2022 season.
