May is national Older American's Month. Keeping the elderly connected and engaged as they age is the goal of a program that's teaming up sixth graders at the Harley School with seniors from St. John's.

The WISE program allows the seniors to help kids work on social and emotional learning. In the process, both parties bridge generational gaps.

"W live in a retirement home and most of the people are above 75, so it's great being with the kids and I feel blessed we can give something to them," said Donval Hornburg, WISE Program participant.

"They are really nice. They are easy to get along with and we have good conversations. It's just like a normal friend," said Christopher Clarke, student and WISE Program participant.

The program is a 10-class series.
