With the threat of big snows, local roads crews are preparing for the storm.

Department of Transportation crews are checking trucks and other snow removal equipment.

"We're being told by the National Weather Service to expect some heavy snow throughout the evening into the early morning into Sunday," said Jordan Guerrein, NYSDOT public information officer. "We're looking at about an inch per hour of a snow fall rate so that's going to be all hands on deck for us here in the region. We do have over 100 large plows like you see behind me in our seven county region; most of those will be in Monroe County plowing the expressways and interstates, but they will be scattered throughout the region."

The DOT urges drivers to have patience and leave enough room for them to get through the roads to clear the snow.
