Mayor Lovely Warren says she wants to make Rochester a greener city — one home at a time.

The mayor is kicking off the "Sustainable Homes Rochester" campaign.

The city is one of eight recipients of a $150,000 grant to help make Rochester's housing market greener and promote clean heating and cooling technology.

City officials and Pathstone want homeowners to get their homes checked out to see if some of the green tech can help save them money.

"After a person would get a home energy assessment, then the vendors would give them a workup on their house, to tell them how much money they could save by adopting these technologies, and where their best dollar would be for making their house more energy efficient," said Scott Oliver, Pathstone deputy for energy programs.
