ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A former patient at Golisano Children's hospital is on a quest to help keep kids comfy while they fight to recover from serious illnesses.

"It makes me feel happy that I am doing something nice for the other kids," said 11-year-old Adysson West.

West says during a recent stay at the hospital, getting treatment for stomach issues, she saw kids in recovery wearing what she calls uncomfortable hospital scrubs that don't always fit — something her mom and dad helped her avoid by bringing her her favorite pajamas.

Now she's rallying the community to donate enough pajamas so all the kids at the hospital have something soft and comfy to wear while they're in treatment.

"She was sitting in the hospital bed two stays ago and she decided 'they need pajamas,'" said Nicole West, Adysson's mother. "I said 'what do you want to do?' She said 'I want to spend all my money on them.' Her birthday is in less than a month. She's counting it down because all she wants for her birthday is pajamas and toys for the kids in the hospital."

Adysson has another surgery for her stomach Friday — she's not sure how long she will be in the hospital.

For those who would like to make a donation, anyone can drop off new pajamas for kids of all ages at Grays Carpet Cleaning in rochester, The United Methodist Church of Livionia, or at Sun Valley campsites in Arkport.
