Food banks and food pantries see a lot of donations and volunteer hours around the holidays, but advocates try to keep hunger and poverty issues in the spotlight year round- especially as major policies debates play out in Washington.

Right now, that includes negotiations over the farm bill and funding for food stamps as well as the definiation of a public charge, which would impact immigrants access to certain services.
