Indian Head
Indian Head, The Adirondacks- 10/6/20

Before we dive into foliage conditions across New York and New England, I just want to share a quick story from my vacation last week.

I typically take the first week of October off to hike and take in the foliage across the Adirondacks, as it's typically the peak week.

I set out last Tuesday to visit one of my favorite spots, Indian Head. This spot is breathtaking any time of the year, but especially in the fall.

When I reached Indian Head I was not only treated to the beautiful landscape, but there was also a newlywed couple taking pictures there who had their ceremony there earlier in the morning.

Above, you'll find one of my favorite shots I took from my vacation. I was actually able to connect with the couple Krissy and Ryan on Facebook a few days after, congrats to them!

Now onto where to find the best color this weekend!

Chuck Pacer Jr.- The Adirondacks

The Adirondacks will be well past peak this weekend after seeing quite a bit of leaf drop in the past week. Low pressure to our east may even bring some snow to areas above 3000 feet Friday night!

The Catskills-10/11/20

While the western and central Catskills are past peak, the eastern Catskills are seeing peak color at this moment. The shot above is from the North-South Lake region Sunday when I was doing some hiking in the area.

The Capital Region will be seeing peak color this weekend. This includes Albany, Schenectady and Troy. Great color can still be seen in Saratoga Springs as well, along with the Helderbergs where the cover photo of this week's blog was taken from.

Jess Buono- Minnewaska State Park

The Hudson Valley has really popped in the past week as well. If you're looking to take a short trip for some great color, check out the Taconics and Gunks this weekend.

Green Lakes
Stephanie Buckley- Green Lakes State Park

This weekend will also feature the best color of the season for central New York, the Finger Lakes and the Southern Tier. Green Lakes will no doubt be packed this weekend.

The Finger Lakes- Brian Maloney

I'd have to imagine Cayuga, Seneca, and Keuka Lake will be busy this weekend with nice weather expected and views like this.

Emily Bush- Letchworth State Park

The Bills may have lost badly Tuesday night to the Titans, but there will be no losers in western New York this weekend when it comes to foliage!

Most of New England is now past peak, but valley locations in southern New Hampshire and Vermont will still feature some great color.

NH
Carrie Ann Gray- Temple, NH

Rain and wind Friday night into Saturday may take down some leaves across New England, but look for solid color in Merrimack Valley, New Hampshire over to Stratton and Bennington, Vermont.

forecast
Forecast for 10/17-10/18

Speaking of rain and wind, Saturday won't be the best day weather-wise across New England. With that being said, much of upstate New York will be dry Saturday.

Areas from the Hudson Valley and points east will see showers early but dry out for the afternoon. Sunday will be dry and seasonable for most, so overall it's looking like another solid for a hike, walk, or scenic drive!

As always we love seeing photos from your fall adventures. Feel free to share them with us on social media or here!
