ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Live theater is returning to the stage in Rochester after more than a year, albeit in a unique way.
Starting Friday, “The Real James Bond… Was Dominican” will be performed live from Geva Theater's Wilson Stage for a Zoom audience.
The solo performance from star and creator Christopher Rivas was originally supposed to happen at Geva last year before the pandemic hit.
Rivas said he feels honored by the theatre's commitment to the show and is excited to get back to work.
"The artistic director cried the first meeting," he said. "Just so grateful to be back and back in the space and back at having those conversations, I know a lot of people didn't have work. So it just feels good all-around to be returning to something."
Rivas wants the Zoom audience to treat this like a normal show, by getting dressed up, having drinks and most importantly, keeping their microphones and cameras on to participate.
