The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) is hoping the state's decision to ease traveler quarantine policies will lead to a boost in business.

As of April 1 the governor's office says you do not need to self-isolate after visiting another state.

The NFTA expects people to start booking more flights in the coming days and weeks.

The airline industry has taken a massive hit in the last year. The NFTA says part of that is because of the quarantine requirement.

Many travelers can't take off work for both vacation and time to quarantine.

Now that the rule is changing, the NFTA believes more people will travel.

But it still wants to remind everyone that all social-distancing rules are still in place.

"We are going to be enforcing those safety measures that we have been enforcing throughout the pandemic, said NFTA director of Public Affairs Helen Tederous. “The hand washing, the mask wearing, the keeping social distance at the airport. These restrictions are meant to help, but certainly guidelines are still in effect to keep everyone safe."

The NFTA hopes to see a 15 to 20 percent increase in travel with this change.

It's important to note, you will still need to quarantine after returning to New York from international travel.
